He’s Thunderstruck! The Star Rookie Football Player to Cheerleader Pipeline has Entered the Chat.

Like most of my chronically online girls, I have not always immersed myself in the world of sports, as typically expected of a twenty-something-year-old girl, but I may have just found my ticket to getting involved. More typically my speed, I do, I find comfort in immersing myself in the world of Netflix docuseries. One in particular that piqued my interest right from Season One, ‘America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’. I instantly fell in love with the glamour, the confidence, the passion, and the girl’s individual success stories. It was hard not to immediately become obsessed. The best part is, I never once questioned if any of these superstar girls had a love interest. I mean, how could they? With their regular everyday jobs, guest appearances with stars like Post Malone, and even just handling a conversation about their kick height from Kelly and Judy, a girl can only take so much… unless.

A few years later, after keeping up with each season’s latest drop, most recently finishing Season Three of ‘American Sweethearts’, of course I followed my favourite stars on social media. Reece Weaver, America’s new sunshine in a bottle, now Roxie Hart on Broadway; Jada McLean, the powerhouse who fought for a long overdue salary upgrade for the girls (and succeeded!); and my personal favourite, Abby Summers, Ohio State’s Dance Team bombshell, and dare I say the Philadelphia Eagles' newest WAG.

It’s no shock that after someone gets chosen to be on one of the fiercest teams in the nation… that team being the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, of course, they gain opportunities that just don’t seem possible to us regular, less athletically inclined folk. Two opportunities that almost every girl has dreamed of, being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and dating a professional athlete, at least in my brain. I scrolled on my For You Page on TikTok to find my girl, Abby Summers, with a new boy?!? I couldn’t help but think, how could one live up to the fame and glitz of it all that is DCC? And after a deep dive into the comments, I found out this boy is none other than star Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean. 

I was gagged. First our OGs Travis and Taylor, more recently Justin Herbert and Madison Beer, and now, why not? Let the star rookies get in the mix! This time coming from rival teams. We love to see this. 

After already thinking that Abby and I were parasocial best friends, I did what most best friends do… go down a rabbit hole of who this guy is. Making their first public appearance on Abby’s TikTok as they got ready to head to none other than the Kentucky Derby, Cooper not only has great taste in first dates, but he also is a pretty big star in his own game, as Abby is in hers. Huge brownie points from me. During his standout rookie Season, he became the second rookie in NFL history to record a pick-six in a Super Bowl, and that pick-six was intercepting THE Patrick Mahomes.  

Touche Cooper. We love when a man matches our girl's energy. I guess you have my approval for now. Remember to keep us happy, especially our America’s Sweetheart Abby. You’ve got two teams to play for now!
